ŒUVRE

Catalogue du Bruit (Short Expressionistic Works)(2008-2016)
These short pieces were made during three years between 2008-2011 with one last piece made in 2016. They follow a specific and strict regime with clear rules and limitations set as a parameter for automatic writing. Rules and limitations were brought upon the style of playing and the instrumentation used. Within these set boundaries, both body and mind were given free rein. Often the body was left free to move in any direction with the mind just as a witness of the sounds thus created. Automatic writing was a tool invented by the Surrealists in the early twentieth century and used to create visual art. In automatic writing, the subconscious is given full freedom by bypassing conscious decision. In these particular music pieces, the concept of automatic writing was applied to music. Rayastre has applied the same technique in other pieces.
